Weekend in Review - April 6th to 9th

Oh my goodness!  And I thought the usual weekends in London City where hectic!  An extended Easter weekend turned out to be crazy.

On Friday we started off with DJ Snakey and host Dex at Bar Soho for a Best in Yellow contest, followed by a mad gallop down the street while getting changed for Best in Glam with DJ Torric and hostess Ruby at Madame Lala's London Revue.

Best in Yellow at Bar Soho
Saturday saw a completely bizarre version of an egg and spoon race around London City.  Later was a Best in Wedding Dresses/Suits contest at World's End pub. with a Boney M tribute concert and Best in Easter contest in Regent's Park later still.  A Best in Eighties contest at Lezbo with DJ Scar rounded off the evening.

For Easter Sunday absolutely mayhem was unleashed with an exploding Easter egg hunt that took in the whole of the sim.  Eggs were launched all over the city, some containing cash and some just going bang!  There was also another race...but not egg and spoon this time...it was a crucifix race...  Sunday evening at the new Substation club was another sixtiesfest with a Best in Hippy contest and music provided by DJs Torric and Henning over the course of the event and Royster as host.  Later at Lezbo it was Best in Bunny with DJ Scar.

As Monday was a Bank Holiday, we had even more insanity with a Here Comes Summer beach party in Regent's Park with the dynamic duo of DJs Torric and Henning again and later a Best in Easter contest at Bar Soho with DJ Scar and host Bailey (that's me).

Here Comes Summer!
After all that I think I need to soak my bunions and have a cuppa!  Hope you all have a good week and stay tuned to this channel for more news from London City.

Weekend in Review - 16-18 December

So here we are again, kiddies...another weekend over.  Not many left in 2011 - time flies when you are having fun (and also when you are dancing on stage in a white outfit and afro...more on this shortly).

This is the point in my reviews when I say we did the usual Bar Soho and Madame Lala's London Revue stuff on Friday to start the weekend off.  Only one problem.  We didn't!  Last week we had the Bar Soho roadshow in the park outside Comptons pub...stage, dancefloor, lighting, the whole works.  To further confuse everyone, on Friday the Bar Soho event collided with Madame Lala's campfest to form one big mashup - with music ranging from camp, cheesy pop to hard dance.  A totally bizarre experiment in musical mayhem, but hugely enjoyable - even for the elderly (like me)!

Saturday provided another unique experience as Gallery Xue provided us with a Natatorium in the water out back of Comptons.  With everyone in the water floating on their backs as a series of visual effects taking place, it proved to be something totally different to anything we have seen before and was hugely popular.

Later on Saturday, the party hordes descended on Regent's Park once more for an overdose of classic camp pop with our tribute to Boney M.  It proved to be a great success as always.

At Comptons on Sunday we had a festive knees up, as this was the last party in Comptons for 2011.

On Friday, the Bar Soho and Madame Lala's London Revue experience crashes together once more in Regent's Park with a special festive celebration featuring Demis Roussos.  Saturday sees the Christmas Proms take to the stage for a Christmas Eve that is sure to prove unforgettable (hopefully for all the right reasons!)

As this is my last Weekend in Review before Christmas, I would like to wish everyone involved in London City in any way a very Merry Christmas - whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whoever you are with spread a little joy and be open to receiving some back.

Weekend in Review - 16-18 September

Wow...that was such a great weekend in London City that I am a day late with my posting - the Soho beer has just worn off...

As always our weekend started with a warm up at Bar Soho and then we headed on over to Madame Lala's London Revue for a live concert by BG Singer.  He has a good rapport with the audience and an impressive song selection that kept us all entertained.

BG Singer at Lala's
Saturday's party in Regent's Park saw the return of camp favourites Boney M, which always gives us the chance to dress up in gaudy outfits and big hair.  The audience were resplendent in their afros - I have lived in places that were smaller than some of the hairdos that were waving about on the dancefloor all evening!

Boney M in glorious technicolour!
The audience had been backcombing their hair for most of the day...
On Sunday at Comptons we were treated to an evening of live music.  Phiona Ember was up first followed by Maximillion Kleene.  It was Phiona's second show at Comptons and she proved to be a great success once again with her warm vocals and humour.

Phiona Ember and the audience of mad hatters!
Maximillion was performing his first concert at Comptons and was a hit with the audience.  He has an easygoing style and a fantastic range of songs in his repertoire.

Maximillion and his cow tipping jar!
This coming Saturday we have the return of ABBA to the park.

The Bank Holiday Continues....

Today, the famous Moped Race returns to Mainland London, but with a twist..  this time you're expected to jump ramps and through a flaming ring of fire.... and still stay upright.   All that for just a measly 250L, but hey its the taking part that counts, right?   Race starts at 11am PDT.  Meet at the Starting Point about 5 minutes before.

This evening we're going to be a bit sophisticated and have a cosy night in the boozer with  Quiz Night at the Star & Garter in West End, playing Name That Tune and Name the (crusty) Celebrity from 12pm Noon PDT.

Saturday was another mad day in Mainland London with 3 popular parties in one at Regent's Park.

We had an exclusive as BONEY M performed here for the first time anywhere in the grid to a packed house of people remembering their tunes from the 1970's.    Congratulations to Revanche and Tayla for a stunning show and thank you to Billy for creating a magnificent stage for the event.
