Weekend in Review - 28-30 October

Hello my lovelies...auntie Bailey here again with another weekend roundup from the wonderful world of London City.  We did our usual Bar Soho and Madame Lala's Revue stuff on Friday night...thankfully we managed to get through the evening without any bus crashes, chipped nails, etc.

Madame Lala's: Always a scream...
On Saturday we were treated to the Monstrous Ball in Regent's Park and you have to admit, in London City we are really amazing when it comes to holding balls.  DJ Ruby was on the decks with a selection of suitably scary tunes and there were prize money contests every half an hour.  Great efforts were made on outfits and everyone seemed to have a spooky old time.

Sunday at Comptons continued in a scary manner, although it was a different kind of scary as Rolf Harris reprised his act.

Weekend in Review - 21-23 October

All the usual insanity occurred over the weekend in London City.  Bar Soho.  Madame Lala's.  The bus journey of death between the two...  We had a Best In Sportswear contest at Bar Soho on Friday as a special request from one of our loyal patrons...and she actually polled the most votes in the contest!

Two things have taken the emphasis over the weekend.  The first was the announcement of London City 3 coming in to existence to complement the existing two areas.  Already it is taking shape nicely thanks to the dedicated builder.

The second thing that played a major part this weekend was the first ever Take That tribute concert in Regent's Park.  It went down spectacularly well and attendance on sim was in the mid nineties at it's height, which isn't a bad turnout for a grown up boyband!

Gary, Mark, Jason and Robbie...alas Howard was stuck in a motorway cafe as his moped broke down
An eager crowd enjoying the delights of the band
Next weekend promises to be spooktacular as it is Halloween!  Get your pumpkins ready now!

Weekend in Review - 14-16 October

Yet another fantastic weekend in London City - a mix of old and new.

The weekend was started off with at Bar Soho with a Best in White event that saw everyone looking pure and virginal - so long as you didn't look too closely at some of them, especially the DJ (Billy Arentire aka the CandyMan) - I would have shown you all a pic of his outfit but I couldn't get a clear shot as my hand wobbled on the camera every time I looked at it.

After Bar Soho we caught the bus down to the other end of the street to Madame Lala's London Revue.  I prefer to walk rather than catching the bus, as I am an avatar not a crash test dummy.  We had a night of campness as is always ensured at Madame Lala's establishment.

For Saturday's Party in the Park we all gathered in Regent's Park with our beverages as the contest was Best in Low Lag Alcoholic Drink - an easy one for most of our members to dress for as there is never a shortage of drinks around London City.  The headline act was a tribute to Simon and Garfunkel, which was greatly appreciated by the assembled masses.  I guess Simon and Garfunkel qualify as the old I mentioned in the opening line of this post.

The audience enjoying the music and atmosphere in Regent's Park
The new I mentioned came in the delightful form (and voice) of Adevina Citron, who made her first appearance at Comptons pub and was well received by the enthusiastic audience.

Next weekend we are in for a treat as our Take That tribute will be in Regent's Park on Saturday!

Canada Gates - St James Park & New Resident Inductions

We've been busy as beavers in London's West End! This week saw the completion of St James Park as we added the Canada Gates and the New Resident Induction Area!

Canada Gates in St James Park
Although not in the correct real life geographical location, the Canada Gate is the entrance to St James Park which is located in London City's West End. Once you enter the park new Residents to Second Life will find a visual tutorial on the use of Viewer 2. This comprehensive tutorial helps induct new Residents into Second Life so they have a better understanding and further enjoy their 3D environment.

New Resident Induction

St James Park is not just for new Residents of Second Life and London City, existing Residents will find peaceful spots to rest, or sit at the wters edge and reflect. All Residents can visit the heli-pad and fly a helicopter or an ultra light for a truely one of a kind London experience.

London City in Second Life encompasses the real life areas of Soho, Regents Park, City of London, St James Park, West End and South Bank.

Weekend in Review - 7-9 October

A totally insane weekend in London City...makes a change!

As always we started out at Bar Soho before moving down the road to Madame Lala's London Revue for a tribute concert featuring Welsh hip swiveller, Mr Tom Jones.  He warbled his way through a selection of hit choons, much to the joy of the assembled crowd.

Tom on stage - being menaced by members of the audience
On Saturday we had an impromptu gig from Joan Baez in Trafalgar Square as part of a protest for peace, which saw much hippy placard waving.

Later on Saturday there was a Party in the Park with a contest theme of Best in Glasses in honour of the star attraction, Elton John!  The place was packed out and thankfully as so many people opted for dark glasses, Elton's outfit did not seem nearly so bright.

Some of the crowd shaking their bits for Elton
Sunday saw a change of pace at Comptons pub...well, several changes of pace actually as we had a good old fashioned hoedown with DJ Billy (the kid).  Country tunes and line dancing spectacular ensued.  It turned out to be an unexpected hit with the punters.

Line dancers...but who is gonna clean up that floor?

Happy Halloween from London City!

Weekend in Review - 1-2 October

As usual our weekend kicked off on Friday night with the regular pop party at Bar Soho and the campness of Madame Lala's London Revue.

Saturday saw an influx of people for the concert in Regent's Park - a tribute by Britt McMahon to the legendary Purple One...Prince.  Your lowly blogger witnessed a peak of 97 avatars on the sim during the concert and everyone danced the night away in a purple haze.

The audience enjoyed the performance so much that no one took any notice of the tripod attacking people in the park...

Britt McMahon takes to the stage as Prince
Alas I have no pictorial evidence of the Sunday night bash which transferred from Comptons to Bar Soho.  I did try to take snapshots but the contest was for Biggest Ass and my camera view was constantly obscured!

Don't forget to check out the London Dungeons, which opened in Regent's Park this weekend...just beware of the zombies as they have quite a bite...

The Headless Horseman Rides Again

As Halloween approached London City, a chilling cry could be heard in the distance. Autumn leaves, swept up by the wind, swirled and curled around us as we stood chatting in the Regents Park HUB.

The air crackled and became thick with fog. In the distance we could make out a faint glow in the sky. As we watched, the glow became brighter and a shadowy figure descended from the clouds. Our hearts began to pound, the sounds of hooves grew louder and the smell of brimstone filled the air.

The flying figure drew ever closer and we could see the dark outline of a horse and rider. The rider with eyes of fire rode his horse ever closer, hooves aflame with the green glow of hell. The eerie sound of clacking on non existent pavement became deafening and the Headless Horseman came to a stop just above us.

We stood, frozen in silence, for what seemed like hours. Our eyes transfixed on the dark form of the Horseman. Then, with a voice that filled our hearts with terror, he shouted 'Prepare yourselves, the bells have tolled! Shelter your weak, your young and your old! Each of you shall pay the final sum! Cry for mercy; the reckoning has come!'

The Headless Horseman visits London City Regents Park through out the day durring the entire month of October. Join us and you may just experience his chilling arrival!
